A message from the artist: The rose holds a profound significance for me, a powerful emblem  of  love, passion, and beauty  whose  meanings intertwine with my  personal story and cultural heritage. In Turkish,  my  name, Gülbün,  translates  to  "rose  bush,"  a connection further strengthened by the prevalence of "gül" (rose) in the names of many women in my family.

For over three decades, I have embarked on an immersive study of the ornamentations found in old Turkish manuscripts and  crafts.  This  dedicated  "rose  journey"  unveiled  the flower's central role as a decorative motif, rendered in a rich tapestry of styles across various artistic expressions. The symbolic weight and inherent beauty of the rose resonated deeply, inspiring me to translate this historical artistry into my own unique creations.

The artwork presented here is the result of this lifelong passion and meticulous research. Each piece is an original creation,  lovingly  designed  and  painted  by  using  the nuanced techniques of gouache, the fluidity of watercolors, and the elegant shimmer of gold on paper.
